Take a Walk in the Park Day is an annual event observed every March 30 in the United States and some parts of the world.

The origin of the day is unknown. However, many observe the day with much fun and celebration in view of the several health benefits it provides.

And it's the perfect time. The summer sun is yet to set its blazing glory and the rains are yet to flood the land. It's a bright and beautiful day to go for a walk.

People in Delhi can make the most of the day. The parks in the capital city are many and breathtakingly beautiful at this time of the year.

Millennium Indraprastha Park

The Millennium Indraprastha Park is located on the Outer Ring Road in East Delhi. The park which was constructed in 2004 has an amphitheatre and a food court for the visitors

The Lodhi Garden

Lodi Gardens or Lodhi Gardens is a popular hotspot for morning walks for the Delhiites. The park with a great historical significance contains the tomb of Mohammed Shah and Sikandar Lodi.

Nehru Park

1-The risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases reduces

A study by Harvard Medical School suggests that walking in the park can reduce the risk of heart disease by 30 per cent. Taking a walk early in the morning strengthens your heart and also controls body’s blood pressure.

2-Helps in losing weight

Taking a walk at a fairly fast speed helps in loosing the weight, as per studies. Walking actually helps in burning the calories which are considered essential for weight loss.

3-Helps to curb diabetes

American Diabetes Association in its reports has suggested that walking is useful to curb diabetes. You must start with a three to five-minute slow-paced walk and afterwards stretch for five to eight minutes and then walk at a normal speed. You should keep the spine straight while walking.

4-Boosts your memory

Walking is considered to be an efficient exercise for boosting your memory. A study which was published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences revealed that walking for 40 minutes at a stretch for three times a week could increase hippocampus’s volume by about two per cent. For the uninitiated, hippocampus plays a significant role in the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory.
