Ganesh Chaturthi, also knowns as Vijay Jayanti, is a popular Hindu festival that marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. This year, the festival is being celebrated on September 2. The 10-day festivities will come to an end with the idols' immersion in a water body on September 12.
On this auspicious ocassion, the devotees dress up in traditional clothes, prepare special desserts such as modak and visit friends & family with gifts.
