Ganesh Chaturthi: Here’s First Look of Mumbai's Popular Lalbaugcha Raja

Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha. On September 2 this year, amidst chant of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ Lord Ganesha will visit the abode of his devotees. Bappa will bless all the devotees before taking leave on September 12, but only with a promise to return the next year. Like every year, Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja has become talk of the town. You cannot forget Lalbaugcha Raja, when it comes to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. Well, just two days ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi, the first look of Lalbaugcha Raja has been revealed. Yes, you read it right. 

The iconic Ganesh idol even has official Twitter handle where the aarti on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi is live-streamed. The Twitter handle of Lalbaugcha Raja posted the first look of ‘Bappa’ and said, "The moment for which all the devotees are eagerly awaiting, the First Look of #Lalbaugcharaja (photo session for the media) will take place today at 7 pm.Live streaming of the First Look will be available on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and website."

As soon as the curtains were lifted, devotees while chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ cheered to watch the much-awaited majestic Ganesha idol. The set-up of pandal of Lalbaugcha Raja idol is based on the Chandrayaan-2 launch theme.

The 10-day-long Ganesh Chaturthi festivities see a large number of devotees at its pandal located in Lalbaug market in Parel. It is worth mentioning here that the Lalbaugcha Raja idol will be immersed on September 12 into the Arabian Sea. Lalbaugcha Raja has the longest immersion procession. The immersion procession of Lalbaugcha Raja begins at around 10 am and ends the next morning. 

It is worth mentioning here that standing at a height of 20 feet, Lalbaughcha Raja was first installed in the year 1934.
