The festival of Dhanteras is one of the most auspicious festivals of Hindus. It officially marks the beginning of Diwali season. This year, Dhanteras will be celebrated on October 25. On this holy day, people buy gold, silver and household utensils as it is believed that it brings good luck to purchase jewellery on this day. It falls on the thirteenth day of Krishna Paksh of the Kartik month annually. It is followed by 'Chhoti diwali', 'diwali', 'govardhan puja' and 'bhai dhooj.'
Know the meaning of Dhanteras: As the name suggest, 'dhan' means money and 'teras' means the thirteenth day of Krishna Paksh. People across India purchases gold, silver, platinum in form of jewellery to celebrate the festival. If you want to buy gold, you can do it for as low as one rupee.
