Targeting the Onam holiday passengers, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) has come out with special rail tour packages to Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
An exclusive 18-coach tourist train comprising both sleeper class and 3-tier AC is being introduced for the first time during a festival, with budget, standard, comfort and deluxe segments, IRCTC Regional Manager (Sout) K Ravikumar told reporters.
The 15-day package, will be from August 13 to 27 and start from Thiruvananthapuram. It would also cater to the travellers of Coimbatore and Chennai and priced at Rs.24,410 for Kashmir Valley and Rs. 26,520 for Shimla-Kullu-Manali tour for budget classes.
For Standard segment the cost would be Rs.34,620, Comfort Rs,43,460 and Deluxe Rs.46,000 to Kashmir and Rs.36,910 for Standard, Rs.45,640 for Comfort and Rs. 48,300 for deluxe to Himachal Pradesh, he said.
Depending on the success IRCTC would come out with more such packages during other festival holidays such as Navarathri, deepavali or Christmas, Ravikumar said.
These packages were specially designed keeping in mind the travellers, who wish to avail LTC tours during Onam holidays, he said.
