New Delhi:
A Texas family's Christmas lampoon light display decoration sent a passer-by into a panic, igniting a rescue mission and winning over the Internet. The Christmas decoration shows a man dangling from the roof of the family home which the family now have said was part of a neighbourhood decorating contest. The dummy whom they nicknamed "Clark Griswold Jr.'' wears a flannel button-up, down vest, baseball cap, jeans and "dad" sneakers that seemed a little too realistic for a dummy.
As it turns out, the mannequin was a replica from the National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation movie where Clark Griswold-the inspirer had exactly worn the same.

The Heerlein family CCTV shows the Good Samaritan rushing to the rescue of the dummy that was positioned by a ladder underneath him, while his feet slipped away, making it look like it was hanging from the roof while trying to string up the Christmas lights.
The footage shows the man yelling, "Please hold on while he grabbed hold of the ladder and yelled for others walking past to help him save the "man".
Local news also reported that the good-passer-by had even called 911 for help.
"I was trying to get him down anyway I can. Except when I started talking to him, he never said nothing!" the man told KVUE. Police reportedly came to the home to find the man was a dummy.

The Heerlein family has thanked the passer-by for trying to save the hanging "man" with a $500 gift card. The family, according to reports, has now also added a sign to the bottom of their display that says it is just a decoration.
