New Delhi:

Too much of binging Breaking Bad for their own bad? A Japanese university professor could face imprisonment charges of up to ten years in jail for allegedly getting his students to produce ecstasy, officials according to AFP on Wednesday said.

According to reports, authorities suspect that the 61-year-old pharmacology professor from Matsuyama University in western Japan got his pupils to make MDMA -commonly known as ecstasy in 2013 and another so-called "designer drug" 5F-QUPIC last year.

The professor has however upon investigation told the authorities that is drug-class was to further the "education" of his pharmaceutical sciences students. Investigators told officials in an AFP report that the drug allegedly produced has not been found as it is believed to "probably been discarded’’.

It however remains unclear if there is a linkage between the alarming similarity between the Matsuyama University professor and that of Walter White, the fictitious hero of "Breaking Bad". If charged and convicted, the professor could face up to 10 years behind bars.
