A video of a dog chasing a black bear away from a backyard has taken over the internet. The footage of the encounter between the two was captured on the backyard security camera of Mark Stinziano, who later shared the video on Facebook. According to an ABC report, the incident took place in Hewitt, New York.
Describing the incident, Stinziano wrote on Facebook, “My neighbour’s dog is getting a steak dinner next time I see him. He is an awesome pup that comes to check on the kids from time to time. Now he is keeping them safe! This was tonight in my backyard…”
The video shows the bear pulling down the bird feeder when the neighbour’s dog, Riley, races into the yard and chases the wild animal away.
Internet was flooded with a lot of compliments for Riley. “Wow! That is one brave doggie. He’s lucky the bear didn’t retaliate,” wrote one user. Another commented, ‘’Fearless Riley.’’
Riley’s owner, Alan Tlusty, told ABC 7 that this is not the first time his dog has chased a bear. “It’s incredible,” he said. “He does chase after the bear whenever he sees him in the yard ... but not like this.”
