The Kylie-Kardashian clan is irrefutably one of the most ‘talked-about family’ on social media. A Londoner however, is not really amused by the family’s unending attention and decided to take an Instagram challenge. The Instagrammer who has refused to unveil his/her identity used a stock image of an egg to break the world record for the most popular picture on Instagram, hence, dethroning reality TV star Kylie Jenner’s “most-liked” picture record.

The image shows a single speckled brown egg on a white background captioned, “Let’s set a world record together and get the most-liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this’’ has so far attracted 39 million “likes” online.

The user by the name of “world-record-egg” account opened on January 4 and currently has 5.3 million followers. The user also stated that the account started out as something funny but turned into a “whirlwind week” after thousands of “likes” poured in.

“I was sitting at home reading an article online about the top 20 Instagram posts of 2018,” the user added.

“I thought it would be an interesting experiment to try and beat the record with something as basic as possible, which led to me deciding on the egg.”

Kylie Jenner has replied to the defeat by an egg. The 21-year-old posted a video of herself cooking an egg on a pavement with the caption “take that little egg” in response to the egg’s win.

The person behind the egg challenge added, “I guess it’s also a comment on celebrity culture and how fragile and easily cracked it is (pun intended). But really I just thought it would be funny if something as simple as an egg could take the crown.”
