The man behind the world’s most famous egg, who broke Kylie Jenner’s record of ‘having the most likes’ is finally out of its shell. Meet Chris Godfrey, the man behind the dethroning of Kylie. ‘’An egg has no gender, race or religion. An egg is an egg, it’s universal’’ says Godfrey after finally unveiling himself.
According to reports, Chris Godfrey is a 29-year-old advertising executive from London who has been credited with creating the viral storm with the help of his friends Alissa Khan-Whelan, 26, and C.J. Brown, 29 to break Kylie’s record. The trio said that they hatched a plan after a picture of Kylie Jenner had been liked almost 19 million. On January 4, their plan began into motion and overwhelming their picture of a lightly speckled brown egg with a sheer white backdrop got a like over 52 million times, dethroning Kylie.
Khan-Whelan told the New York Times that the group decided to “put any speculation to bed” by revealing their identities to the masses.
Godfrey told the Times that the past few weeks had been “crazy” and a “real journey.” “It’s not really about me,” he said. “It’s just about the egg and sort of where we can take it and what we can do with it.” However, he did admit the success had been a “fluke.” “But it’s a fluke that caught the world’s attention. It’s what you do with that attention that counts,” he added.
