A father of one DU student received a chilling video of her daughter being tied-up wherein, she can be seen begging "mujhe chhor do’’. While the received video is every parent’s worst nightmare, in this case, it happened to be staged video by an 18-year-old daughter who went to ‘alarming’ extends to avoid getting scolded for having bunked classes.

After having received the WhatsApp video, a case in this regard was registered with the Delhi Police on Adarsh Nagar police station on Sunday night but was later quashed after the girl confessed to making the plan all up to avoid getting chided. In his complaint, the father alleged that he received a video on WhatsApp showing his daughter's hands and legs tied up. She could be heard saying "mujhe chhor do (leave me)" in the video.

A case was then registered under IPC section 365 (kidnapping) and the girl’s phone was put on technical surveillance. The DCP (North West) Vijayanta Arya, said,

“Teams were formed to look for her. On Monday, her parents received a call from a passerby in Old Delhi’s Ballimaran that their daughter was crying on the street. She had asked the man to call them.”

On further inquiry the girl however broke down revealing the whole plot to escape her father’s fury for bunking classes and had cooked up a story that she was kidnapped by four-five men, who took her to a jungle. “She couldn’t point out the location and said that at night when the men slept off, she escaped. When she was prodded a bit more, she confessed that she had made up the story,” said Arya.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Vijayanta Arya told media outlets that the girl, who is pursuing a correspondence course in the Delhi University (DU), left home to attend college on Sunday morning. She however went to Purana Qila with friends instead. On her father video-calling her asking her to show him the college building in the background she disconnected the call abruptly, switching off her cell phone and then hatched the plan after spending the night at a friend's house.
