2018's Ballon d'Or's historic moment for women's football was completely upturned when Ada Hegerberg, the winner of Ballon d'Or was asked to twerk on stage. Norwegian footballer who plays for Olympique Lyonnais in France was called up on stage for the award when the improper and sexist question was asked.
The Ballon d'Or which was normally reserved for the men throughout its 62-year history was supposed to be a historic moment but marred by the improper question. DJ Martin Solveig, who was a guest host at the awards ceremony, asked the 23-year-old striker to twerk after she received her prize.
The player, however, promptly shut the host down saying "no" and walking off the stage.

This indecent and improper gesture has taken the Internet by storm and many akin sportsmen have shown a supporting hand for Hegerberg.
Football journalist Jason Pettigrove tweeted: "Martin Solveig, you are f***ing pathetic". Two-time Wimbledon tennis champion Andy Murray also let loose his disappointment on his Instagram story.
He wrote, "Why do women have to put up with this s***?" he wrote. "What questions did they ask Mbappe and Modric? I'd imagine something to do with football. Another example of the ridiculous sexism that still exists in sport.
"And to everyone who thinks people are overreacting and it was just a joke ... it wasn't. I've been involved in sport my whole life and the level of sexism is unreal."

Shocking that. Feel really sorry for her. The first ever recipient of that award and everyone's talking about someone asking her to twerk.— Si Lloyd (@SmnLlyd5) December 3, 2018
I hope that after he asked the female Ballon d'Or winner if she could twerk, Martin Solveig remembered to ask Modric if he could do the full monty. FFS. She makes short work of him and rightly so. https://t.co/edqK5AMzQX— Sarah Doran (@sarahisnothere) December 3, 2018
Norway's @AdaStolsmo is the first woman to win a #BallonDor since the ceremony started in 1956. A major achievement for women and sports. And to celebrate, the DJ asked her to twerk.— Leah Harding (@LeahHardingAJE) December 3, 2018
