New Delhi:

Doctors in Czech Republic pulled off a miracle as they delivered baby after 117-days of the mother being declared brain dead. In April, the woman was rushed to hospital as she suffered a stroke. Chances of her survival were grim and so appeared the future of the foetus in her womb. But, standing against all odds, a healthy girl child was born on August 15.

It is being reported that the baby was kept alive for a period of 117 days which is believed to be the longest record of artificially sustaining pregnancy in a brain-dead mother.

The 27-year old woman was kept on life support system and her legs were moved to simulate walking to help the growth of the foetus.  Doctors had the daunting task to ensure to save her from any infection. They all had the task to ensure that her heart and lungs function properly. For this, she was intravenously provided with as much nutritious stuff as possible.

The doctors, only in the presence of family members, disconnected her life support systems and allowed her to die, reports Reuters.

The baby born by caesarean operation is totally healthy as he weighs 2.13 kg and measures 16.5 inches.
