Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles and Women & Child Development Smriti Irani shared a picture on Instagram with philanthropist Bill Gates on Monday captioning, “Soch rahe hain padhai poori ki nahin, aage kya karein (Thinking since we didn't complete our degrees, what should be done in future?)". Both Irani and Gates can be seen having conversation in the picture.
The Union Minister has been targeted by her critics over her educational background and when she became HRD Minister in 2014, she was subjected to questions by many social media users. Moreover, during the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, she had declared in the affidavit that her three-year degree course has not been completed.
Interestingly, Bill Gates is also a college dropout and now features among richest persons in the world. He dropped out of Harvard after two years and started focussing on Microsoft.
Television producer Ekta Kapoor also drew attention by her comment on Smriti’s post as she wrote, "Bosss ! Tulsi kyunki abh bhi yaaad hai......pls waaapsi Karein (Boss, We still remember Tulsi of Kyunki..., please come back)," Ekta said in the comments section.”
However, on November 18, the Smriti Irani along with Bill Gates launched Bharatiya Poshan Krishi Kosh with the aim of reducing malnutrition in India.
