New Delhi:

How are you dealing with coronavirus lockdown? Posting 'jhadu pocha', DIY fitness tutorials on Instagram? Clicking 'work from home' selfies? Or finishing that book? Or simply sleeping through the shutdown? Whatever is your solution to the boredom, nothing beats this man from Uttar Pradesh's Rampur. The man, who has not been identified yet, decided to call up the coronavirus helpline and demanded the officials to send four samosas at his place!  (Coronavirus Outbreak LIVE Updates)

At first, the officials told him that it was a coronavirus helpline and he should call up only to seek any query related to COVID-19 disease or for any other difficulty he is facing due to lockdown. But the adamant samosa-lover kept on calling the helpline and told the officials that since all the shops are closed due to the order, the authorities must help him.

Pestered by incessant calling, the Rampur DM decided to look into the matter himself. What happened next is a lesson for all the 'covidiots'! So, when the man called up the helpline once again, the officials told him to meet up near a bazar to deliver the much-loved samosas. When the man came to the designated place, the officials soundly rebuked him and told him to clean small drains in the bazar!

Rampur DM told about the entire incident on Twitter and his tweet has gone viral. "Send four samosas...Despite several warnings, we had to do this. Ordered this man to clean the small drains as social service for calling up the control room and making unnecessary demands," the tweet said. The DM also posted a photo along with the tweet. The post has garnered 3.4K retweets and 10.5k 'likes'. People are lauding unusual thinking. "Bahut sahi Sir," said a Twitter user. Others said that the man deserved it for annoying the officials during the lockdown.

The Narendra Modi government invoked the National Disaster Management Act, 2005 to impose 21-day lockdown from March 24 midnight across the country in the mega battle to fight coronavirus pandemic. The Act calls for the establishment of the National Disaster Management Authority with the Prime Minister of India as chairperson.

The NDMA is responsible for "laying down the policies, plans, and guidelines for disaster management" and to ensure "timely and effective response to the disaster". Principal secretary Nipendra Mishra and Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba reportedly spoke to state chief secretaries and DGPs to chalk out the functional aspect of the lockdown. "The Ministries/ Departments of Government of India and State Governments/Union Territory Administrations, have been directed to ensure strict implementation of these Orders," a Union Home Ministry statement had said adding it will also monitor the implementation of these measures.
