New Delhi:

Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, who is due to fly around the moon in 2023 as the first private passenger with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is in search for a girlfriend to join him on a voyage to outer space. “As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there’s one thing that I think about: continuing to love one woman”, said Maezawa on a website for applicants.

His search for girlfriend will be a subject of the new documentary programme and it is seen as an attention-grabbing stunt by the Japanese entrepreneur. He has named the project ‘Dear Moon’ and has said he plans to take artists on the flight in order to inspire works based on the experience.

"With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space”, HT quotes Yusaku Maezawa as saying.

The documentary, titled “Full Moon Lovers”, will stream on AbemaTV. It is backed by online ad agency CyberAgent and broadcaster TV Asahi.

The target audience of the show mainly include a younger generation that seeks customisation of entertainment. Applications to participate in the documentary will be open till Jan. 17 and Maezawa will select his girlfriend by the end of March.

The ‘Dear Moon’ is a mission to explore moon and is project to conceived and financed by Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa. The mission will make use of Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starfish to go on voyage around the moon.

The project was unveiled in September 2018 and the flight is expected to occur no earlier than 2023.

The project seeks to take six to eight artists will Maezawa for a free travel around the moon. The Japanese entrepreneur is of the view that the project will pave way for the creation of new art. The art, as per him, will be used to promote peace across the globe.
