We often see kids helping out grown-ups to learn new technology and use mobile phones, fancy tabs and other gadgets, with the tab of a finger. However, a new video doing rounds on social media shows two teens completely baffled when asked to dial a number on an old rotary phone. The video going viral has garnered over 14 million views and counting.
The video has been shared by Kevin Bumstead and shows his son Jake and nephew Kyle struggling to dial a phone number on the rotary phone. The teens first try to push the numbers on the phone but quickly realise they need to actually rotate the dial. After a few attempts, while the receiver stays put on the phone, the boys try to dial the numbers.
“You guys have made it all worth it. Everyone has struggled like you guys,” you can hear someone say. After a few moments, one of the boys asks if he needs to pick up the receiver while dialing the number. A woman suggests putting the receiver on their ear and hear what it sounds like. They give it a few more tries. “What’s with all the holes though,” the other boy asks.
''This is freaking hilarious," writes one person in the comments section. "I love how they keep picking up the phone and hanging it up like clearing my the line," laughs another.
According to Daily Mail, Kevin Bumstead said he got the idea of making teenagers use a rotary phone when he saw something similar on YouTube.
He said, "I saw a video similar on YouTube and I thought it would be funny to see how my kids and their cousins handled this challenge at Christmas. So I divided them up by age group (24, 22, 22) (19 and19) these two (17 and 17) and (14 and 12) and gave them the phone number and 4 min to dial the phone."
