BARC TRP ratings week 1, 2019: Reality shows, Awards night outshine daily soaps

The first TRP ratings of 2019 has been finally released by Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC). These rating reveals the top five shows of Indian television for a particular week which is based on urban viewership during the prime time. The top program ranking is based on average Rating across all Original airings in the week. The last week of 2018 was quite exciting and eventful with reality shows like Bigg Boss and Indian Idol were in their finale week. The year 2019 also began with some amazing new shows and soap operas. So, let us take a look at the list of top five shows of week 1 of 2019.
Star Screen Awards 2019 – The awards was first aired on December 31st, 2018 with Salman Khan as the host became the most watch show in the first week of 2019. The Star Screen Awards also featured power packed performances from Jacqueline Fernandez, Kriti Sanon, Katrina Kaif, Tiger Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan and Salman Khan.
The Kapil Sharma Show – The second season of the popular comedy show returned on the Indian television after a long gap of one and half years. Hosted by Kapil Sharma, the show secured number two spot in the first week of 2019. The show also features Krushna Abhishek, Sumona Chakravarti , Kiku Sharda, Rochelle Rao, Chandan Prabhakar and Kapil Sharma himself.
Super Dancer Chapter 3 Auditions – Judged by choreographer Geeta Kapoor, Bollywood superstar Shilpa Shetty, and Bollywood director Anurag Basu, the audition hunt episode of third season of Super Dancer earned number three spot in week 1 of 2019.
Kundli Bhagya – The only daily soap opera in the list of top five shows for the week 1, 2019 is Kundli Bhagya. Featuring Dheeraj Dhoopar and Shraddha Arya in pivotal roles, the show is in number four position in BARC TRP ratings. The show has maintained its spot as Kundli Bhagya was at the same position in the Standings in the last week of 2018.
Bigg Boss – The 12th season of popular reality show ended with a bang as the show secured bumber five spot in the ratings for week 1, 2019. Hosted by Salman Khan, the show concluded with Dipika Kakar Ibrahim being crowned as the winner for the 12th season.
