Bollywood Films which won 64th National Film Award 2017

The winners list for the 64th National Film Awards are announced and once again Bollywood has made us proud. Some of Bollywood’s best work from 2016, Neerja, Rustom, and Dangal came to limelight again after grabbing the National Awards. But real buzz has been created by our Khiladi Kumar, Akshay Kumar who for the very first time, won the National Award for his role in Rustom. Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja, won the best Hindi feature film award. National Film Awards have always been an honour for every filmmaker, a sense of pride is generated when the makers of the film receive the award. 1. Best Actor: Akshay Kumar for 'Rustom'

Neeraj Pandey's Rustom is a 2016 Indian crime thriller written by Vipul K. Rawal, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai starring Akshay Kumar, Ileana D'Cruz, Arjan Bajwa and Esha Gupta in the lead roles. The film is based on the real life incident of Naval Officer K. M. Nanavati played by Akshay Kumar and businessman Prem Ahuja. The film released on 12 August 2016. Akshay Kumar recently bagged the National Award for Best Actor for his powerful performance for playing the character of Rustom.

2. Best Hindi Film: 'Neerja' 

Sonam Kapoor has already received appreciation for her role as Neerja and now her film has acclaimed by the National Award Jury members for the Best Hindi Film. Biographical thriller, Neerja, the film is directed by Ram Madhvani and written by Saiwyn Quadras and Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh. It was produced by Atul Kasbekar's company, Bling Unplugged, alongside Vijay Singh's Fox Star Studios. The film also features Shabana Azmi, Yogendra Tiku and Shekhar Ravjiani in supporting roles.The film is centered upon the Libyan-backed Abu Nidal Organization's hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Pakistan, on 5 September 1986.The film is shown from the point of view of the flight's head purser, Neerja Bhanot, who thwarted the hijack attempt by alerting the pilots, thus grounding the plane. She was killed by the hijackers while helping to save 359 of the 379 passengers and crew on board. The government awarded Neerja the Ashoka Chakra who was the youngest person to receive it.

3. Best Film on Social Issues: 'Pink'   

Shoojit Sircar's critically-acclaimed film, Pink is a 2016 Indian courtroom drama directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Angad Bedi, Andrea Tariang, Piyush Mishra, and Dhritiman Chatterjee. Released on 16 September 2016, the film depicts the story of three girls struggling for their justice, when they were accused for the attack upon the Minster's son. The film was appreciated by both the audience and the critics, and now garnered the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues.

4. Best Special Effect Award: 'Shivaay' 

Last year Diwali release 'Shivaay' did not have a huge box-office collection, due to it's clash with 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' which shared the same release, but now Ajay Devgn has finally got a reason to celebrate. The film has won the 64th National Film Award for best visual effects. Shivaay is a 2016 Indian action thriller film directed and produced by Ajay Devgan under his banner Ajay Devgn FFilms featuring Ajay Devgn, Sayyeshaa Saigal, and Erika Kaar in lead roles. The film revolves around a skilled mountaineer who turns into a destroyer when his daughter gets kidnapped by flesh traders and he is left helpless.

5. Best Supporting Actress: Zaira Wasim for 'Dangal' 

Aamir Khan's movie has always been an inspiration for everyone and with his last year release 'Dangal' he has again proved the same. Now the young actor Zaira Wasim who played the young character of Geeta Phogat has won the National Award for Best Supporting Actress. Dangal is a biographical sports drama film directed by Nitesh Tiwari starring Aamir Khan as Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. The former is India's first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where she won the gold medal (55 kg). Her sister Babita Kumari won the silver (51 kg).

6. Best Children's Film - 'Dhanak'

After bagging certain Internationally acclaimed awards, 'Dhanak' has received the Nation's pride as well. Categorised in Children's film, the movie has won National Award for Best Children's Film. Dhanak is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language film written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The film features Hetal Gadda and Krrish Chhabria as the two children, playing brother and sister, in the leading roles, with supporting performances from Chet Dixon, Vipin Sharma, Gulfam Khan, Vibha Chibber, Flora Saini, and Vijay Maurya. The film was released nationwide in India on 17 June 2016.The film was premiered at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Crystal Bear Grand Prix for Best Children's Film, and Special Mention for the Best Feature Film by The Children's Jury for Generation Kplus.
