From Kaabil to Baahubali 2: Top 10 Highest Grossing Films of 2017

The Year 2017 has not been very kind to Bollywood. Some of the films despite featuring big names in the star-cast failed miserably at the box-office while some performed extra-ordinarily.
Even films which were made on strong subjects like Indu Sarkar, Noor, Begum Jaan failed to impress the audience. Superstar like Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan also tasted the sourness of failure with the films like ‘Tubelight’ and ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’.
On the contrary, some of the flicks released in the year 2017 broke several previous records in the domestic market.
As the countdown has begun for the year 2017, here’re top 10 highest grossing films of the year:
Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion – Directed by SS Rajamouli, the magnus opum is the one of the biggest blockbuster of all time. The film features Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti and Anushka Shetty in lead roles. The Hindi version of the film grossed Rs 501 crore at the box-office.
Golmaal Again – Rohit Shetty’s directorial venture is the highest grosser Bollywood film of the year 2017 with Rs 205 crore at the box-office. The movie stars Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Tabu Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu and Prakash Raj in significant roles.
Tiger Zinda Hai – Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film is a sequel of 2012 superhit film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ which was directed by Kabir Khan. The movie has already bagged Rs 150 crore within 4 days of its release.
Raees – Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film grossed Rs 139 crore in domestic market. It is the only Shah Rukh Khan’s release from the year featuring in the list. The movie also starred Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.
Judwaa 2 – The year 2017 has been quite lucky for the current generation superstar Varun Dhawan. He has two of his films in the list of highest grossers of the year. One of them is ‘Judwaa 2’, directed by his father David Dhawan, the film grossed Rs 138 crore in domestic market.
Kaabil – Produced by Rakesh Roshan, the flick was the first hit of the year 2017. The movie grossed Rs 127 crore at the Indian box-office. The film features Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam in lead roles.
Toilet – Ek Prem Katha – Based on the social issue of toilet hygiene, the film was directed by Shree Narayan Singh. The film earned Rs 125 crore at the box-office. Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar played lead role in the film
Tubelight – Despite receiving negative reviews from the critics as well as the audience, the Salman Kha starrer managed to get into the list of the highest grosser of the year. The movie earned Rs 121 crore at the box-office.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania – Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer earned Rs 117 crore in Indian market. The movie also marked Varun Dhawan’s second film in the highest grosser list.
Jolly LLB 2 – Subhash Kapoor directorial venture grossed Rs 117 crore and was declared superhit at the box office. The film features Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi in lead roles.
