From Shruti Seth to Karanvir Bohra: Here’s what the cast of Shararat is up to

If you’re a 90s child, you would definitely remember the mantra ‘Shring, Bring, Sarvaling, Bhoot Bhavishya, Vartaman Badaling’ from one of the popular sitcoms of that time, Shararat. The story of three generations of friendly witches, Shararat, made us believe in magic and fairy tales. Launched in 2003, the show had a good run of four years. Let’s walk down the memory lane, and look at what the cast of the popular show is up to these days.
Shruti Seth as Jia: Shruti Seth, who played the cute and innocent witch, was bestowed with magical powers on her 18th birthday. After the show, Shruti made a mark in the industry with her roles in Bollywood films like Fanna, Rajneeti, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Slumdog Millionaire. She has also been part of several seasons of Comedy Circus. The actress will be next seen in Ekta Kapoor’s ALTBalaji series, Mentalhood. She is married to filmmaker Danish Aslam and has a daughter.
Farida Jalal as Sushma: Jia’s nani was the coolest grandmother on Indian television. She is best remembered for her iconic roles in Bollywood films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayengey and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. She was last seen in ZEE5’s Parchayee.
Poonam Narula as Radha: Poonam Narula played the role of Jia’s mom in the show. She was a fun mother, loving wife and a sincere fairy, who would come up with the best solution for Jia and Nani’s endless mischief on the show. Poonam Narula has been part of shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kasam and Nach Baliye.
Eva Grover as Radha: Poonam was later replaced by Eva Grover on the show. After Shararat, she went on to do many more shows on the Indian television and was praised for her commendable performance in Bade Achche Lagte Hain and Tashan-E-Ishq.
Mahesh Thakur as Suraj Malhotra: Suraj, who was married to Radha, played the role of a perfect husband and a doting father, who was surrounded by three fairies, and would constantly have cute arguments with naani. Some of his notable works include Sasural Genda Phool, Ishqbaaaz, Udaan and films like Hum Saath Saath Hai, Aashiqui 2, Jai Ho etc.
Karanvir Bohra as Dhruv: Karanvir Bohra made his television debut with Shararat. He played Jia’s love interest and soon became a very popular face on the small screen. He went on to act in several popular shows like Qubool Hai and Naagin 2 and had also participated in several reality shows like Nach Baliye, Khatron Ke Khiladi Darr Ka Blockbuster and Bigg Boss Season 12.
Simple Kaul as Pam: Pam entered Jia’s life as her rival and was in love with Dhruv. After he show, Simple appeared in numerous television shows like Yeh Meri Life Hai, Maniben.com, Saas Bina Sasural, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Jeannie Aur Juju. Currently, she is a proud owner of multiple restaurants.
Addite Malik as Meeta: Meeta was the only friend Jia had in college. She was head over heels in love with Dhruv’s friend Raja, and tried her best to woo him through the show. Aditi is best known for his roles in shows like Kumkum, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, Hare Kanch Ki Chudiya and 26/11. She is currently handling her restaurant business.
