He has also won Academy Award for the Best Original Song – Jai Ho – for the film Slumdog Millionaire.
He has won a number of National Film Awards and 20 Filmfare Awards.
In 2004, Gulzar was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to the arts and the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002.
He is an Indian poet, lyricist and director; residing in Pakistan these days.
On 18 August 2013 he has turned 79.
He was born on 18 August 1934 in Punjab.
Sampooran Singh Kalra is known popularly by his pen name Gulzar.
