Thugs of Hindostan – Helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindostan was one of the most anticipated flicks of the year. But, due to the bad word-of-mouth from the audience and negative reviews from the film critics, the movie failed miserably at the box office. The movie was initially released in 7000 screens worldwide.

Race 3 – Salman Khan’s much-awaited Eid release also failed to impress the audience despite strong star cast and peppy music numbers. However, the movie minted more than Rs 300 crore worldwide but this collection could not justify the huge budget it took to make the film. Race 3 featured Anil Kapoor, Daisy Shah, Saqib Saleem, Bobby Deol and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Pari – The supernatural horror film featuring Anushka Sharma in lead role also could not outshined as per expectations. Bankrolled by Anushka Sharma and Karnesh Sharma, Pari could only manage to earn around Rs 40 crore.

Aiyaary – Inspired from the Adarsh Housing Society Scam, Aiyary failed to live up to the expectations and tanked at the box office. The movie could only manage to earn just around Rs 30 crore. The release of the flick was also postponed to avoid clash with Padmaavat.

2.0 – Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is the biggest film ever made in Indian cinema because of its huge budget. The movie was produced with a massive budget of Rs 543 crore but could only recover around Rs 750 crore worldwide. The movie also received mixed to negative reviews from the audience and critics as well.

Namaste England – Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra starrer romantic comedy is the sequel to 2007 superhit flick Namastey London but could not showcase the same magic as that of Akshay Kumar starrer and tanked at the box office. He had two releases this year, one was Sui Dhaaga which was applauded by the audience and even performed well at the box office but other one was October which didn’t impress the audience as expected. Made with a budget of Rs 33 crore, October failed to churn out big numbers for the producers but somehow earned Rs 54.74 crore.

Fanney Khan – Based on the 2000 Belgian film Everybody’s Famous, Fanney Khan features Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao. Despite big names in the star cast, the movie failed miserably at the box office and could not earn recover half of the cost of production.
