The much-anticipated Paris Fashion Week took off with an effervescent-jumpstart this Monday. Power fashion houses such as Dior, Gucci, Saint Laurent all trumpeted their best of bents. Dior’s show was a cultural-fashion collaborated all together in a single show. Dior’s opening saw a new modern dance piece by choreographer Sharon Eyal and Gucci’s blazon kicked off with the hit song ‘Baby Alone in Babylone’ by Jane Birkin. Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior’s collection showcased a feminist, sensual silhouettes comprising sheer dresses with visible underclothes as part of her aesthetics.

Dior spring/summer 2019 collection also engulfed the world of both dance and music. The show was all about flowing, ethereal dresses and skirts and of course ballet pumps. It also had a showcase of bodysuits, leotards, leggings and mesh tops. Maria Grazia Chiuri’s collection had a twist of designs, from the ethereal to the simultaneously conservative in their full-lengthed transparent dresses giving a peek-a-boo feel. Her collection included sheer black dresses, skirts made of multi-coloured tulle and black fishnet bodysuits.

Maria Grazia Chiuri’s collection had a twist of designs, from the ethereal to the simultaneously conservative in their full-lengthed transparent dresses giving a peek-a-boo feel. Her collection included sheer black dresses, skirts made of multi-coloured tulle and black fishnet bodysuits.

Designer Anthony Vaccarello for Gucci on the other hand, garnered jaw-dropping responses from the audiences. Models in their god-like power walked across water wearing luxury snake boots, sparkling disco heels, silver open-shirts, leather chap-like shorts and hats with chin toggles that didn’t sink. Talk about sorcery in fashion! Gucci’s designer, Alessandro Michele took a hippier vibe. Their collection had a ‘different-time’ aspect altogether.
