BJP manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha elections, key highlights, Amit Shah, Narendra Modi

The ruling BJP on Monday came out with its ‘Sankalp Patra’ (vision document) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Dubbed as Sankalp Patra, the manifesto of the BJP was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its chief Amit Shah. Releasing the manifesto of the party, Shah said that they have made 75 promises to celebrate the 75th Independence Day.

In its manifesto, the BJP promised to bring the percentage of families living below the poverty line to a single digit in the next five years. The party promised to provide subsidized sugar (at Rs. 13 per kg per family per month) to 80 crore people from poor and lower-middle-income families.

Speaking at the manifesto launch event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ aims to make India a developed nation by 2047, on completion of 100 years of Independence.

"I want to remind you about the 2014 polls. That time we brought you a vision of how the country would be between 2014 to 2019. The people then delivered their verdict giving us a majority government. The journey from 2014 to 2019 will be written in golden words in the history of India's development," Shah said at the launch event.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which was launched to ensure financial support to farmers owning land up to 2 hectares, will now further expanded and will cover all the farmers in the country. The BJP has also promised pension to small and marginal farmers of 60 years and above the age. The saffron party said it will also provide interest-free Kisan Credit Card loans for 1-5 years on the condition of prompt repayment of the principal amount.
