70 years of Independence These freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for Indias independence

The path to India’s independence was not an easy task. Several people sacrificed their lives for the country. Freedom fighters including Bhagat Singh, Mangal Pandey, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Rajguru and Sukhdev played a crucial role in the country’s independence. They fought against the British rule and made the country ‘a free bird’ again after so many years of slavery.

Freedom fighters including Bhagat Singh, Mangal Pandey, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Rajguru and Sukhdev played a crucial role in the country’s independence. They fought against the British rule and made the country ‘a free bird’ again after so many years of slavery. One of the youngest freedom fighters of India, Bhagat Singh was associated with organisations including Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Hindustan Socialist Republican Association and Kirti Kisan Party. He threw two bombs in the Legislative Assembly chamber in Delhi.

Chandra Shekhar Azad played a vital role in the India’s freedom struggle. He was associated with Hindustan Republican Party. He was involved in the Kakori Train Robbery in 1925.
Mangal Pandey

Mangal Pandey was a sepoy in the 34th Bengal Native Infantry regiment of East India Company. He sparked off the first war of Indian Independence or the ‘Sepoy Mutiny’ in 1857.

Shivaram Hari Rajguru came to Varanasi at very young age where he learned Sanskrit and read Hindu religious scriptures. He was involved in British officer JP Saunders’ murder. He was regarded as the gunman of Bhagat Singh’s party.

Sukhdev had a remarkable contribution in the Lahore Conspiracy case in 1928. One of the major hunger strikes undertaken by him was the prison hunger strike in 1929.
