Auto Expo 2018: From Hero XPulse to TVS Motor; Attractive new bikes and scooters on display

Start-ups, electronic vehicle players and the firms entering India were at the forefront at the biennial Auto Expo 2018. On the other hand, big names like BMW, Hero, Suzuki left no stone unturned too woo their customers showcasing a range of products from scooters to bikes to cars. About 12 start-ups have participated in the 14th edition of Auto Expo, with an aim to be a part of India’s story of transition from internal combustion engines to electric mobility.Besides a slew of luxury feature cars, two-wheeler have also drawn attention at Auto Expo 2018 and have successfully lured more customers.Here we bring you a series of some attractive scooters and bikes, Manufacturers showcased at the event.
TVS Motor on Wednesday unveiled its electric scooter concept Creon and a 220cc single-cylinder engine bike Zeppelin at the Auto Expo 2018. The company has described it as a "performance-oriented, electric scooter concept". The TVS Creon features a next generation electric motor with acceleration from 0-60 kmph in under 5.1 seconds have a range of 80 km. The battery can be charged to 80 per cent capacity in just 60 minutes.
Honda has introduced the Activa 5G, which is the fifth-generation model. The scooter sports an LED headlamp, two new colours and a few other updates, and will be launched next month with a minor price hike.
Hero has entered the 125cc scooter segment with the Maestro Edge 125. However, the Maestro targets younger buyers with its sporty styling and is also suitable for an older customer. The vehicle is also equipped with i3S (idle-start-stop tech) that, up until now, was seen only on Hero motorcycles. While the two-wheelers miss out on LED headlights, they get LED tail-lights, external fuel-filling, digi-analogue instrumentation, service indicators and a side stand.
Expanding it’s product portfolio, two and three wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor forayed into the 125cc scooter segment, with the launch of NTORQ, priced at Rs 58,750 in New Delhi. The new scooter joins the company’s other products including popular scooterette Scooty Pep, scooterTVS Jupiter, We Go.
The country's largest two- wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp unveiled 200cc adventure motorcycle, XPulse and two new 125cc scooters, which will hit the markets later this year. With the XPulse, the company is strengthening its presence on the higher engine capacity motorcycle segment.
Suzuki Burgman Street, a 125-cc advanced luxury scooter was also unveiled at the Auto Expo. The scooter is expected to be launched early this year. The scooter runs on telescopic front suspension with a front disc brake, rear twin shocks, front windshield. The Burgman Street has a storage capacity of 7-litres. Its 125 cc liquid-cooled engine makes 10.7 bhp and 10 Nm of torque.
