Mumbaikars today woke up to monsoon showers on Monday morning with parts of city receiving heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall in Mumbai resulted in water logging on the streets and massive traffic jams. Due to heavy rain, Mumbai-Pune train services have been affected after a goods train derailed in the ghat section on Karjat-Lonavala stretch. Some trains have been cancelled, diverted and short terminated. Even as local trains are running with minor delays. There are also reports of waterlogging and traffic jams in some areas like Parel, Govandi and Dadar. On the Western line, waterlogging reported on tracks at Palghar due to incessant rains, led to the cancellation of some trains. Due to electrification, one person died in Govandi. In the meantime, the weather department has predicted heavy rains for the next two days. According to Skymet, rains in Mumbai have been very intense since last night. "The commercial capital Mumbai is at serious risk of flooding between July 3 and July 5. Close to 200 mm or more rain/ day is going to batter the city during this period, which could hamper normal life in the city. July also looks extremely promising for Mumbai after good rains were observed in the month of June," a SkyMet report said.
