Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tel Aviv on Tuesday for a three-day visit to Israel to commemorate 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu received him at Tel-Aviv airport as a grand welcome was given to the Indian PM. Whereas PM Modi greeted Israel by 'Shalom', his Israli counterpart Netanyahu described Modi as his 'Dost'. Modi’s three-day visit beginning today is aimed at commemorating 25 years of establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries and will also see discussions between him and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu to explore ways to enhance cooperation in key strategic areas. On Monday, PM Modi had described India’s ties with Israel as “special” and said his visit - the first-ever by an Indian premier to the country - will “lead to further cementing” of bilateral ties and cooperation in key areas including counter-terrorism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tel Aviv on Tuesday for a three-day visit to Israel to commemorate 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu received him at Tel-Aviv airport as a grand welcome was given to the Indian PM.

“My visit comes at a special moment- we mark 25 years of the establishment of relations between India and Israel this year,” Modi had said on the eve of his three-day visit to Israel. In an interview to the pro-government daily ‘Israel Hayom’, Modi said his visit was “based on the deep centuries-old connection between our two peoples.”

PM Modi said that alongside building a partnership for shared economic prosperity, India and Israel are also cooperating to secure our societies. Further, he said that both the countries have to secure our societies against the common threat of terrorism. The PM also added that he was keen to interact with the Indian diaspora in Israel, including large number of Jews of Indian origin

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu greeted Modi and said that the Israeli people love India and admire our culture, history and democracy. He further said that he was confident regarding the success of the partnership between both the countries.
