Olympics Hall of Fame Indian medal winners

India has participated in Olympics since 1900 and won two silver medals. In total India has won 26 medals in Summer Olympics. India bagged 8 gold in Men’s hockey and it maintained its position for 28 long years. In London games India claimed six medals including two sliver and four bronze.

India has participated in Olympics since 1900 and won two silver medals. In total India has won 26 medals in Summer Olympics. India bagged 8 gold in Men’s hockey and dominate it for long 28 years. In London games India claimed six medals including two sliver and four bronze. 

Norman Pritchard, an athlete from India, competed at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, thereby being the nation's first appearance at the modern Olympic Games. He bagged silver medal in 1900 Paris Men’s 200 metres.

Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav was an Indian athlete. He is best known as a wrestler who won a bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He was one of the first athletes from India who has won a medal in Olympics. (Source: Wikipedia)

Sushil Kumar is an Indian freestyle wrestler. Gagan Narang bagged Bronze medal in 2012 London Shooting. Gagan Narang is a gold medalist in the Afro Asian Games, 2003 in Hyderabad on October 26, 2003 in Men's 10m air rifle competition. He also won gold medals in the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and 2010.

Karnam Malleswari is the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal. She won Bronze in 2000 Melbourne Weightlifting. She also won the world title in the 54 kg division in 1994 and 1995 and placed third in 1993 and 1996.

Leander Paes has won eight doubles and ten mixed doubles Grand Slam titles and is the oldest man to have won a Grand Slam title. He holds a career Grand Slam in men's doubles and mixed doubles, and achieved the rare men's doubles/mixed doubles double at the 1999 Wimbledon tournament. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is a Veteran Indian shooter who rose to fame after winning the Silver Medal in Men's Double Trap at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Mary Kom is a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships. She is the only Indian woman boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight (51 kg) category and winning the bronze medal. Mary Kom has also been ranked as No. 4 AIBA World Women's Ranking Flyweight category. She became the first Indian woman boxer to get a Gold Medal in the Asian Games in 2014 in Incheon, South Korea. Saina Nehwal is an Indian badminton player, former world no.1 in Women's Singles. She is the first Indian to win a medal in Badminton at the Olympics. She achieved this feat by winning the Bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics on 4 August 2012. At the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Vijender Singh won the bronze medal after losing the semifinal bout against Kazakhstan's Bakhtiyar Artayev.
