Team India, who recently had a disastrous tour of England after they lost 4-1 to the host, will now be looking to improve their performance as they are scheduled to play four Tests on the Australian tour starting from December 6th. Indian skipper Virat Kohli will like to create history by clinching the Test series against the Aussies. Although, it is being said that the current Australian side is the weakest of all-time. In the past as well, many other skippers have created history with their performances on the international soil. So, we bring to you the list of some of the former Indian skipper who outshined on foreign tour.
Bishen Singh Bedi – Former Indian skipper Bishen Singh Bedi was also known for his bowling skills apart from captainship. Under his leadership, team India chased down huge total of 406 runs by West Indies in the year 1976.
During the span of his captainship, India has played 14 Tests, out of which India won three, lost eight matches. Three matches were drawn.
Rahul Dravid – ‘The Wall’ Rahul Dravid is considered as one of the weakest Test captain. However, statistics speaks the whole different story. Team India has managed to register historic win against West Indies and England.
Under his leadership, India has played 17 matches, out of which the team has won five, lost four and eight were drawn.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni – He is considered as one of the most successful captain in all formats of the game. With MS Dhoni as captain, Team India also managed to become the number one team in the format.
Under his captainship, team has played 30 matches, out of which India won six, lost 15 and nine were drawn.
Virat Kohli – The current India skipper Virat Kohli faced emabrassment when the team lost five match Test series against England by 4-1. However, fans and cricket experts are expecting good performance from him on the ongoing Australian tour where the team will play four Tests.
Under his leadership, Team India has played 19 matches, out of which secured win in nine matches, lost six and four were drawn.
Sourav Ganguly – ‘Dada’ has a record of clinching highest number of Test win on foreign soil including Australia, England, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe.
Under his leadership, India has played 49 Test matches, out of which team has won 21, lost 13 and 15 matches were drawn.
