It has been more than a week since ball-tampering incident by two Australian players Steve Smith and David Warner during a match against South Africa lead to one-year ban each.
The two franchises of Indian Premier League which were affected were Rajasthan Royals and SunRisers Hyderabad who lost their skippers due to the incident.
However, both Rajasthan Royals and SunRisers Hyderabad immediately found replacement of skippers in Ajinkya Rahane and Kane Williamson.
But, there is still one uncovered spot left in each squad. There were some of the big names which remained unsold in the auction of this year who can fill those vacant places in the team.
Let us take into consideration some of the possible big names who can be part of these two franchises:
Hashim Amla – One of the shocking name which remained unsold in the auction of IPL 2018 was South African batsman Hashim Amla.
He made his IPL debut in 2016 and was associated with Kings XI Punjab. With a huge strike rate of over 141, Amla has two smashing centuries in his name.
Eoin Morgan – England middle-order batsman, who has an experience of 52 matches in the League went unsold in the auction.
Morgan has scored 854 runs in 45 innings of 52 matches and made his IPL debut with Kolkata Knight Riders.
Moises Henriques – Australian all-rounder Moises made his IPL debut in 2009 with Kolkata Knight Riders. Later, he was traded to Delhi Daredevils in the year 2010 and Mumbai Indians 2011. He has also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013.
In the year 2016, as a part of SunRisers Hyderabad’s squad, Henriques scored 182 runs and took 12 wickets which helped SRH claim the trophy.
With more than 950 runs in 57 matches, Henriques remained in the auction.
Joe Root – English Right-handed batsman is yet to make his IPL debut. In the auction of IPL 2018, Joe remained unsold and now after the removal of Smith and Warner’s name from the squads, there is a huge possibility of Root being selected by either of the team selector.
In the 25 T20 International matches played by Root, he scored 743 runs and took 6 wickets.
Shaun Marsh – With a huge experience of 71 matches, Marsh went unsold in this year’s IPL auction. He made his IPL debut with Kings XI Punjab in the inaugural season of the League where he was also the highest run-scorer of the tournament with 616 runs at a staggering average of more than 68.
