Virat Kohli's Indian cricket team achieved history in the New Year as the fourth and final Test ended in a draw in Sydney, making his side the first-ever Indian team to win a Test series in Australia after 71 years of pain.
Virat Kohli's Indian team achieved a 2-1 series win, making them the first Asian team and fifth overall to have won a Test series in Australia.
Kohli, visibly emotional at the presentation, hailed the efforts of the team and said the win was greater than the 2011 World Cup win as he did not feel much of the emotion.
India won the Adelaide Test before losing the second Test in Perth. A win in Melbourne on Boxing Day ensured India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Ravi Shastri also hailed it as the biggest win in Indian cricket, greater than the 1983 World Cup as India broke 71 years of pain to give Indian cricket fans joy in 2019
From Cheteshwar Pujara's 521 runs at an average of 75 to Jasprit Bumrah's 21 wickets, India were in the driver's seat and overcame the disappointments of losing in South Africa and England.
