West Indies won the toss and chose to ball first against Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan opener Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera came out to bat and gave a steady start to the innings but it was Windies skipper Jason Holder who gave first dent to the Lankans.
Avishka Fernando became the highest run scorer for Sri Lanka as he smashed his maiden ODI century.
On the other hand, Windies skipper picked two wickets while Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas and Fabian Allen scalped one wicket each.
In reply, Chris Gayle and Sunil Ambris came out to bat but could not manage to give a good headstart to the Windies innings.
For West Indies, Nicholas Pooran scored the highest run with 118 off 103 balls. But it was not enough to chase down the huge target set by the 1996 World Champs.
