New Delhi:

The close battle between Earth and a massive Asteroid may begin today on August 10, 2019. In an astronomic observation what scientists have found is an asteroid named as 2006 QQ23 that is bigger than the Empire State Building is likely to hit earth today. Meanwhile, NASA has confirmed that this massive space rock could be possibly hazardarous. The size of the asteroid is a whopping 1,870 feet in diameter as compared to the State building which is 1,454 feet tall. This clearly means that the asteroid would be 36 stories larger than the Empire State building. However, there is no reason to panic as the asteroid will fly past the earth without colliding with planet earth.

Earlier to this, many dangerous asteroids have already approached towards earth without colliding. Asteroids are huge space rocks that are potentially able to bring tsunamis, flattening winds and shock waves that could be disastrous for human life on earth. These space rocks are generally found in the Main Belt, somewhere between the orbit of Jupiter and Mars.

As of now, research scientists have identified more than 5000 asteroids near earth surface of 300m diameters. In a news, NASA confirmed that earth is safe from any possible space attack for at-least a century.

Meanwhile, NASA’S CNEOS calculated that the asteroid 2006 QQ23 will come within 4.55 million miles of the Earth’s reach and will go past the planet with a mindboggling speed of 10,400 miles per hour. However, the distance maintained between earth and the asteroid is safe and will not leave any kind of hazardous impact on earth.

It is to note that this is the first time since 2001 that asteroid 2006 QQ23 is getting so close to earth. Once the asteroid passes earth in a fleeting moment, it is not expected to come near to our Planet until February 15, 2022. Further, NASA has detected seven asteroids that will be approaching earth in the month of August. The asteroids are named as 2013 BZ45, 2018 PN22, 2016 PD, 2002 JR100 and 2019 OU1.
