Life beyond Earth: NASA to reveal new discoveries at ocean worlds press conference this week

Washington:

Does life exist beyond our Earth? Do aliens exist? Could life thrive in planets other than Earth? These are some of the questions that pop up in everyone’s mind but alien life remains a mystery. However, US space agency NASA is coming up with fresh discoveries on April 13. NASA has announced that the new discoveries would include alien oceans in the solar system.

At a press conference on April 13, NASA will “discuss new results about ocean worlds in our solar system.” The new discoveries will be based on the findings from NASA Hubble Space Telescope and Cassini Saturn spacecraft.

“These new discoveries will help inform ocean world exploration - including NASA’s upcoming Europa Clipper mission planned for launch in the 2020s - and the broader search for life beyond Earth,” NASA officials said.

Question-and-answer session:

A question-and-answer session will take place during NASA’s ocean worlds press conference. The panel will include scientists from the Cassini and Hubble missions, as well as NASA’s planetary exploration and science directorates.

“Members of the public also can ask questions during the briefing using #AskNASA,” NASA said. NASA’s Cassini spacecraft, which has been revolving around Saturn since 2004, has made detailed observations of the ringed planet and its many moons.

The spacecraft is scheduled to die on September 15, bringing an end to the Saturn mission. The Cassini spacecraft will explode and settle down on the atmosphere of Saturn without contaminating the planet’s icy moons.

Meanwhile, the Hubble Space Telescope has been orbiting the Earth since 1990 and has captured breathtaking pictures of the universe, including of some solar system planets, during its mission.
