An asteroid called 2019 RG2 will shoot past Earth at 50,000 miles per hour (approximately 80467.2 kilometres per hour) on September 9, at 8:13 PM UTC (12:43 IST), according to reports. Daily Express reported that 2019 RG2 is an Apollo-type Near-Earth Object (NEO) that flies around the inner ring of the solar system on a trajectory, similar to Asteroid 1862 Apollo.
The NASA has estimated that the space rock measures somewhere in the range of 29 feet to 65.6 feet and will close in on Earth at the brink of around 21.99 kilometres per second.

The NASA said: “As they orbit the Sun, Near-Earth Objects can occasionally approach close to Earth. Note that a ‘close’ passage astronomically can be very far away in human terms: millions or even tens of millions of kilometres.â€ÂÂÂÂ
When a 65.6 feet (20 metre) rock exploded over Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast in 2013, the shockwave blew out windows in a wide radius and injured more than 1,000 people with shards of glass, Daily Express added.
Meanwhile, it is reported that another pair of asteroids will dangerously approach Earth on September 14. Classified as Near-Earth Objects by NASA's Centre for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), asteroids identified as 2000 QW7 and 2010 CO1 will approach Earth within a 24-hour period.Â
It is to be noted that an asteroid (space rock) can bring tsunamis, shock waves and flattening winds that could be catastrophic. The space rocks approach towards the Earth due to the gravitational forces that affect them. It is said that one day all life on the Earth will be extinct.Â

Asteroid 2000 QW7 will approach towards Earth on September 14 at 7:54 pm EDT. The 2,133 feet space rock is currently traveling at a speed of 14,361 miles per hour and it is the biggest space rock to approach Earth this month. It was first detected on August 26, 2000 and is just short of the height of Shanghai Tower. During its closest approach, asteroid 2000 QW7 will be 0.035428 astronomical units(AU).
