ISRO’s moon craft ‘Chandrayaan 2’ is one of the most talked about moon mission in recent times. The space craft recently entered the lunar orbit which marked and important step in the landmark journey to the Moon. Now, Chandrayaan 2 has sent first Moon images taken at a height of about 2650 km from lunar surface.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated ISRO for Chandrayaan-2 successfully entering the lunar orbit. The Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) manoeuvre was completed successfully at 9.02 am as planned, using the on board propulsion system, India’s space agency said in a statement.
“Congratulations to Team @isro on #Chandrayaan2 entering the Moon’s orbit. This is an important step in the landmark journey to the Moon,” Modi tweeted.
Using the onboard propulsion system, the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft on Wednesday successfully performed the second lunar bound orbit maneuver. It is a huge success for India's ambitious Moon mission. This comes a day after the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully placed Chandrayaan-2 in the lunar orbit.
In a statement, ISRO said, “Second Lunar bound orbit maneuver for Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft was performed successfully today (August 21, 2019) beginning at 1250 hrs IST as planned, using the onboard propulsion system. The duration of the maneuver was 1228 seconds. The orbit achieved is 118 km x 4412 km.ÂÂÂÂÂÂ
All spacecraft parameters are normal. The next Lunar bound orbit maneuver is scheduled on August 28, 2019 between 0530 - 0630 hrs IST,ÂÂÂÂÂÂ it added.
