New Delhi:

The Proteas are currently up against Sri Lanka for a five-match ODI series in which the former has already taken an unassailable lead of 3-0 after winning by 71 runs in a rain-curtailed game in Durban on Sunday. For the last two ODIs, the South Africa team management has included the likes of Aiden Markram and JP Duminy in the squad. Markram comes into the side on the back of some superb performances in the domestic 50-over competition - with scores of 85, 139 and 169 for Titans, while Amla too find his place back in the side after being rested for the first three games.

JP Duminy, who has been out of international cricket since October 2018, has recovered in time and even notched up a couple of half-centuries for Cape Cobras to test himself ahead of the world cup.

"Experience is always a key factor in major tournaments such as the ICC Men's World Cup," said Linda Zondi, Cricket South Africa National Selection Panel Convener "It is great to see how well JP has regained his best form after being out of action for so long.

"What has also been highly encouraging is to see how well the Proteas have played when they have returned to franchise cricket. It is important that they should dominate at this level and that their skills should rub off on our emerging talent. JP, Aiden, and Dwaine Pretorius have all made significant contributions to their franchises in recent matches. We will use the final two matches in the ODI series to continue to examine all the options that are available to us as far as the World Cup squad is concerned."

Reeza Hendricks and Wiaan Mulder, who has failed to impress in the first three games of the series, have been left out as South Africa scramble to find their best 15 with only two one-dayers to go ahead of the mega tournament.

Squad for 4th and 5th ODI: Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dale Steyn, Rassie van der Dussen.
