New Delhi:

Following Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s request to The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to increase the time frame of WAGs staying with the players during overseas series and tournaments, the matter on Friday was discussed between the Committee of Administrators (CoA) and Team India members.

However, the CoA wants to follow the policy and rules set by the Cricket Australia which works with the Australian Cricket Association and frames out a small period for the families, during which the family members can stay with the players during an overseas tournament, as per a report in Mumbai Mirror.

The time-frame is however, not fixed and varies with the length of the tours.

Now, the BCCI is not willing to change the set rules as the 2019 World Cup is approaching quick. A certain example of Cricket Boards allowing WAGs during World Cups is the Australia/New Zealand boards allowing the family members, but only after the semi-finals. And this same policy is set to be applied during the upcoming WC in England.

“The player opinion varies. Only an individual can say because the individual has to play a Test match. Some want family to be there for the whole tour while others want little family time and they try to concentrate (on cricket),” Gambhir told India Today when asked about the issue.
