New Delhi:

BCCI on Thursday confirmed that there were no serious concerns with regards to Kohli’s injury. India’s Test captain Virat Kohli suffered a minor shoulder strain on Day 1 of Ranchi Test while fielding. The injury required him to undergo scans later in the day.

Contrary to reports that suggested he could be out of the ongoing game and even the series, the board had earlier stated that he will continue to receive treatment that should assist his participation in the remainder of the Ranchi Test.

Kohli put in a dive near the boundary in the 40th over of Day 1 in Ranchi and was seen immediately clutching his right shoulder. The skipper went off the field then and did not return for the rest of the day’s play.

He was treated with ice packs and later he was seen doing shadow practice inside the dressing room.

“There was a shock on his right shoulder, that’s the current status. But the exact status of the injury will be known by tomorrow morning after we get the scan reports,” India’s fielding coach R Sridhar told reporters.
