India vs West Indies, 3rd ODI in Pune, Live Scores: Kohli departs for 107, India struggle

New Delhi:

In the first two ODIs, the Indian bowlers sorely missed the accuracy and the yorker-nailing abilities of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, they will be back to compliment the batting, who is led by Virat Kohli's magnificence. With scores of 140 and 157*, Kohli needs one more century to not only complete a hat-trick, but also equal South African sensation AB de Villiers’ record of four consecutive centuries in ODIs in India. Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope have been the few positives for West Indies and they will be determined to ensure the Windies get on the board in this tour. India have chosen to bowl, giving Khaleel Ahmed another game in place of Ravindra Jadeja. (LIVE SCORECARD)

It's all over for India! West Indies won by 43 runs

WICKET! Y Chahal (3) is out, Caught, b Kemar Roach, 225/8

Big setback for India. Virat Kohli is gone after scoring a brilliant 107. Marlon Samuels picks his wicket. India 220/7 after 41.3 overs.

WICKET! B Kumar (10) is out, c Rovman Powell b Obed McCoy, 215/6

Century no. 38 for Kohli. What a knock by the Indian skipper!

WICKET! MS Dhoni (7) is out, c Shai Hope b Jason Holder, 194/5. Seems it would be another thrilling game.

34.1 overs: K Roach to V Kohli (89), 4 runs, India 188/4

25.4 overs: WICKET! A Rayudu (22) is out, b Obed McCoy, 135/3

A Nurse to V Kohli. Four! It's another 50 for the run-machine. India 104/2 after 21.2 overs

WICKET! S Dhawan (35) is out, lbw Ashley Nurse, 88/2

12.1 overs: O McCoy to V Kohli (30), 4 runs, 70/1

10.4: O McCoy to S Dhawan (24), 4 runs, 59/1

Fifty up for India with Dhawan and Kohli keeping the scoreboard ticking

1.6 overs: WICKET! Rohit Sharma (8) is out, b Jason Holder, 9/1

J Holder to Sharma. Four! It's Cracking shot! India 9/0

Indian innings begins. 0.3: K Roach to Rohit Sharma. Four!

Bumrah to McCoy, no run, full and outside off, he swings and misses. West Indies 283/9 after 50 overs. It'a decent comeback by West Indies, thanks to a superb knock by Nurse.

49.5 overs: Bumrah to Nurse, OUT, lbw in front of middle. Nurse departs after scoring quick 40 runs.

48.6 Overs: Kumar to Nurse, FOUR runs. Great shot!

WICKET! Another one bites the dust. Debutant Fabian Allen miscues a lofted shot and holes out to long on. Shai Hope is running out of partners and West Indies still have eight overs to bat out.

WICKET! Very poor shot from the West Indies skipper and Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets the breakthrough. The knuckle ball from Bhuvi and it holds up on the pitch, Holder toe-ends the slog and he departs for 32. A dangerous partnership is broken. Jason Holder c (sub) Jadeja b Bhuvneshwar 32 (39).

The partnership between Holder and Hope continues to give West Indies plenty of Hope. West Indies would be looking at a good total only if they keep wickets in hand.

Shai Hope scores his seventh fifty. It has been a gritty performance for him again and he will be the key for West Indies to reach a good score. After 33 overs, West Indies are 158/5.

Yuzvendra Chahal has conceded just seven runs in three overs of his second spell. India are tightening the noose with some accurate and disciplined bowling.

CATCH DROPPED! Tough chance for Bumrah. Holder miscues the slog and it flies to long on, Bumrah runs back but cannot grab on to it. Both Hope and Holder are hanging in there.

Slight hold-up in play as Jason Holder gets some treatment after he was hit on the helmet by Jasprit Bumrah. What days. In the past, the Windies pace quartet would terrorise batsmen with bouncers. Now, the tables have turned.

WICKET! Brilliant bowling by Kuldeep. He set Rovman Powell up brilliantly. Batsman had no clue. The googly from the chinaman, it drifts in and Powell has a heave at it, Dhoni allows the outside edge to pass through and Rohit Sharma dives to his left to take the catch. Rovman Powell c Rohit Sharma b Kuldeep Yadav 4 (16)

All hopes now rest on Shai Hope. He needs to bat till the end if West Indies are to get a score near 300.

WICKET! What a moment and it is Dhoni, who shows his magic. India, please take him for 2019 World Cup. Kuldeep floats this flighted delivery up outside off, Hetmyer misses the slog and is slightly unbalanced, that is all it needs for Dhoni to whip the bails off, the batsman's foot is on the line and not behind it and the third umpire gives the youngster his marching order. Shimron Hetmyer st Dhoni b Kuldeep 37 (21)

West Indies go past 100 in style and the fifty-partnership is also up. Hetmyer slog sweeps Chahal to the deep square leg fence. It has come off just 34 balls and Virat Kohli will have to act fast. After 19 overs, West Indies are 105/3

Yuzvendra Chahal is getting some stick and Hetmyer shows he is in great form. He blasts a flat six over long off and then bludgeons the straight drive past the bowler. The partnership is reaching fifty in quick time.

Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer are building a decent partnership in quick time. Both are tempted to use the sweep shot. Hope is going to attack the spinners and he gets going with a mauled six over wide long on off Chahal.

WICKET! Khaleel Ahmed is overjoyed. Stays round the wicket to the right-hander, gets the ball to straighten and bounce a touch extra, Samuels is surprised by that and gloves it to Dhoni who takes a low catch. Yet another failure for the veteran. Marlon Samuels c Dhoni b Khaleel 9 (17)

Yuzvendra Chahal concedes just one run in his first over but at the other end, Khaleel Ahmed has leaked some runs. Marlon Samuels needs to step up and show his experience. West Indies 47/2 in 11 overs.

WICKET? The umpire gives it out LBW but Marlon Samuels reviews. He was caught on the crease as Bumrah gets the ball to nip back in. However, the ball is missing leg stump. Good review from the Windies.

WICKET! Bumrah gets his second wicket. Angling across outside off and a bit of extra bounce, Kieran Powell jabs at it and the edge is taken by Rohit Sharma at first slip. Kieran Powell c Rohit Sharma b Bumrah 21 (25).

WHAT A CATCH! Dhoni, you legend! Being left out of India squad? No problem. Bumrah hurries Chandrapaul Hemraj with a short ball and the batsman gets the top egde, Dhoni runs back to fine leg and dives full length forward to take a stunning catch. Chandrapaul Hemraj c Dhoni b Bumrah 15 (20).

An appeal for an LBW and the umpire does not give it. India opt for the review and it is a disastrous one. The ball was pitching miles outside leg stump. Virat Kohli's success rate for reviews continues to sink

Jasprit Bumrah begins with a maiden. He is getting some swing. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is struggling slightly for rhythm. West Indies are 10/0 after three overs.

India have played three ODIs at the MCA stadium in Pune, winning two and losing one. Their only loss came at the first match at this venue against Australia in 2013.

All the debate preceeding the match is on the selection for the Twenty20s against West Indies and Australia and the Tests. The big question is No MS Dhoni in the Twenty20s. Will this be the end of Dhoni when it comes to international T20s? Remember, he only has eight ODIs to prove his worth for the 2019 World Cup.

Hello and welcome to the third ODI between India and West Indies from Pune. The Vizag ODI witnessed Virat Kohli at his history-making best, but West Indies, boosted by a player named Hope and a dazzler in Shimron Hetmyer tied the game and have kept the bisitors alive.
