Joe Root among 1122 players signed up for IPL 2018 Player Auction

New Delhi:

A total of 1122 players from 13 countries including India have registered for the Indian Premier League auction scheduled to be held on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Saturday.

England's Test captain Joe Root has also tried his luck with a total of 282 overseas players hoping to find a buyer.

Apart from Root 25 other players from England, 58 from Australia, 30 from New Zealand, 57 from South Africa have signed up to be a part of Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction 2018.

Former Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who ended his contract with Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of last season, has one again thrown his hat into the ring.

Chris Gayle, Ben Stokes, Chris Lynn, Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, Dwayne Bravo, Carlos Brathwaite, Evin Lewis and Jason Holder are some of the other key overseas players who have also entered the auction.

Apart from overseas talent, Indian stars like Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, R Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane are likely to fetch some good amount of money.

In 2018 IPL auctions, there will be a total of 281 capped players, 838 uncapped players including 778 Indian players.

Three players from Associate nations are also included in the list of uncapped players.

The full list of the players has been sent to all the eight franchises.
