Kidambi Srikanth trounces Hu Yun in straight games to book a place in the last eight of the men's singles at the Japan Open on Thursday. Srikanth took just 29 minutes to dispatch his opponent from Hong Kong.

Srikanth was in sublime form all through the match and looks in good touch to carry on his run into the quarterfinals. Earlier on Thursday, Sameer Verma also advanced to the quarterfinals at the Japan Open by defeating Hse Jen Hao. Meanwhile India's Sameer Verma crashed out of the tournament after losing his pre quarterfinal encouter to Shi Yuqi.

Meanwhile, later on Thursday PV Sindhu shall again lock horns against her arch rival Nozomi Okuhara for a place in the women's singles quarters. The Sindhu- Okuhara has become one of the high profile rivalries in world badminton with the ace shuttlers clashing in the finals of the World Championships and Korea Open
