New Delhi:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni left the national selection committee red-faced after he refused to play Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-finals for Jharkhand despite Chief Selector MSK Prasad announcing his availability a couple of days back.

The current scenario is based on the fact that there is no communication between selectors and the senior players, who decide their own schedule.

Dhoni, who is struggling to find his form since the last two years, was expected to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-finals for Jharkhand against Maharashtra.

On Saturday, Jharkhand chief coach Rajiv Kumar said that Dhoni has refused to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, contrary to what MSK Prasad had earlier said.

"Dhoni feels that it would not be fair for him to join us at this stage, given that the team has done so well and reached the quarter-final stage in his absence. He does not want to upset the team balance," Jharkhand coach Kumar said.
