New Delhi:

At least 40 soldiers lost their lives on Thursday in Pulwama, Jammu, and Kashmir in one of the deadliest terror attacks against the Indian paramilitary forces in decades. Condolence messages have been pouring in for the family of the deceased Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers ever since the news of the attack broke out.

Several have condemned the attacks, for which the responsibility has been claimed by Pakistan-based Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). The deceased soldiers were traveling in a truck when a car loaded with close to 300 kg of explosives rammed into it on Thursday afternoon.

In an emotional message, India cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar condemned the attack. He also wished a speedy recovery for the injury and sent his condolences to the family of the deceased soldiers.

"Cowardly, dastardly, meaningless...... my heart goes out to the families of those who lost their loved ones and prayers for the recovery of those brave hearts in hospital. Salute to your commitment to Service and Loyalty' @crpfindia," Tendulkar wrote on social media.

Several cricketers including skipper Virat Kohli came forward and expressed their heartfelt feelings through a post. All-rounder Hardik Pandya also took to the twitter and said: "Disturbed by the incident in #Pulwama. My thoughts are with the families and friends of our brave CRPF jawans, who laid down their lives for the country. Let's all do our bit to help the families during their dark hours and remember the soldiers in our prayers."

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir was firm with his tweet and expressed his sentiments and said, "Yes, let's talk with the separatists. Yes, let's talk with Pakistan. But this time conversation can't be on the table, it has to be in a battleground. Enough is enough. 18 CRPF personnel killed in an IED blast on Srinagar-Jammu highway (sic).”
