Germany coach Joachim Low on Monday dropped a huge shock as he left out English Premier League’s Young Player of the Year Leroy Sane from his final 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The defending champions suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Austria on Sunday, a friendly game in which Low gave few of his players a final chance to shine ahead the mega event.

“Leroy [Sané] has a huge amount of talent and he will be back in again because from September we will re-double our work with him," Loew said. "But in his games with the national team he hasn't quite done the business."

"I want to thank the players for their efforts. They all have added a value to this team," said Joachim Low after announcing his final squad for World Cup.

Low surprised the majority by leaving out Manchester City’s Leroy Sane, and insisted that it was a hard decision to leave him out.

The Germany boss however indicated that Neuer will be his first-choice keeper for the tournament which will start from 14 June.
