New Delhi:

Yaya Toure would head back to former team Barcelona if the opportunity comes his way. Toure’s is a free agent after his Manchester City contract ends this summer.

The 34-year-old is preparing himself for a fresh start after eight long years in England, with the once powerhouse of a midfielder being allowed a move by newly crowned Premier League champions.

Numerous big offers are open to Toure with offers from America and China but his wish is to play football for a top European team.

“I would head back to Barcelona,” Toure told a leading Spanish radio after playing his final home game for City against Brighton on Wednesday.

"If Barcelona calls me, I will go for sure, they are the best team.

“I miss [Lionel] Messi and [Andres] Iniesta. Barcelona have been the most important team of my life. They have given me humility, experience and the knowledge of how to behave on the field.”

Midfielder Andres Iniesta will not be a part of Barcelona next season after announcing his exit plans, and Toure has hinted that they could re-unite in Asia.

“He (Iniesta) is a formidable person. I need to send him a message to see if we will see each other in China or wherever,” the Ivorian said.

Toure has one more match to play for City before heading to his new team. Pep Guardiola-managed Manchester City are set to face Southampton on the final of the Premier League, with the Premier League champions looking to break another record and become the first ever team to reach 100 points in the Premier League.

The 34-year-old midfielder is excited for a new chapter in his life after stomping his name in the history books with his astonishing personal records as well as team accolades.

“Going through the door with history is important,” he added.

“I will see what happens next year because I want to enjoy another year or two. That’s the best for me.”
