New Delhi:
The Europa League trophy was stolen after being lavishly displayed at a public event in Mexico. The authorities, however recovered the trophy few hours later.
The trophy had been on display for the public at a football stadium in the city of Leon on Friday, only to be taken from a car following the event.
After recovering the trophy, Guanajuato public prosecutor said, "We recovered the Cup after receiving information that it had been stolen from the car transporting it."

No further information was given regarding who took the trophy and when and where it was found.
The event in which the trophy was stolen was organised by one of the UEFA’s sponsors.
