World Cup winner for France and Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy hailed midfielder David Silva’s son Mateo as the Man of the Match after City’s 6-1 triumph over Huddersfield Town on Sunday.
Mateo Silva was born extremely prematurely and doctors expressed deep concerns about whether he would survive or not.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola gave Silva time off in March to be with his girlfriend and son before the doctors showed green signal to Mateo the following month.
However, Silva’s turmoil in private life didn’t affect his on-field performances last season and he brought his son Mateo to the Etihad Stadium before making his 250th Premier League appearance for Manchester City against Huddersfield Town.
Mendy’s post-match tweet read: “Yes, 6-1. Yes, one or more assists for me (certainly more). Yeah, ‘Kun’ scored three goals and all that. But our MOTM today it’s him (and I’m not talking about his dad) #mateo.”
Manchester City dismantled the organised defense of Huddersfield Town as they won 6-1 as Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick to record his third treble of 2018.
Mateo’s dad, David Silva put a magical display that was hailed by all as he created six chances and scored a sublime free kick in the match.
El Mago’s free-kick was surprisingly the first ever direct set-piece that he scored in the English top league.
